Brevard County, FL : Bicyclist dies in Brevard crash on Sunday afternoon, February 28, 2016

A man riding a bicycle along U.S. Route 1 in Brevard County died after moving into the path of a car Sunday afternoon, troopers say.

The man, whose name and age will not be released until next of kin is notified, was headed south near Ansin Road when the incident occurred at about 2 p.m., according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Spokeswoman Kim Montes said that the bicyclist was struck by a car after moving from the right shoulder of the southbound lane, into the left lane. The bicyclist crossed directly into the path of 49-year-old Marshall Pratt, of Rockledge, who was driving a Nissan in the left lane, Montes said.

The bicyclist died on the scene, Montes said.

Troopers will continue to investigate.
