Spring Hill, FL : 87-year-old man died in a five-car crash as Philip Lanieri of Spring Hill on Friday, April 8, 2016

The Florida Highway Patrol identified an 87-year-old man who died Friday in a five-car crash as Philip Lanieri of Spring Hill.

At about 9 a.m., Lanieri was driving his 1996 Lincoln Town Car north on Mariner Boulevard when, for unknown reasons, he rear-ended a car waiting at a stoplight, troopers said. The collision caused a chain reaction with the other cars at the light.

Lanieri was taken to Bayfront Health Spring Hill where he died from his injuries, according to the patrol. The other drivers suffered minor injuries.
