Topeka, KS : One person died a afternoon on Noland Road in southeast Kansas City on Thursday, August 31, 2017

The crash happened shortly after 4 p.m. Thursday, near Frost Road and south of Little Blue Road. According to Kansas City police, a white van had been southbound on Noland Road and crossed the centerline, hitting a northbound silver SUV. The van then hit a white Chevrolet passenger car that had been following the SUV.

The initial collision forced the SUV off the right side of the road, and it overturned in a ditch. The SUV’s driver died short time later at an area hospital. The van’s driver and two passengers in the van were taken to hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, and the Chevrolet driver was not injured, police said.

The crash remains under investigation.
