Mitchell,IN : Paoli man dies in crash on August, Friday 11th 2017

A Paoli man was the victim of a fatal crash Friday evening on VFW Road in Lawrence County.

Willard D. Sneed, 54, was ejected from a white 2008 Chevrolet HHR and died as a result of the injuries he suffered in the accident, according to a Lawrence County Police Department accident report. He was not wearing a seat belt.

Lawrence County Coroner Rob Herr said the death was due to closed chest injuries.

While Sneed was traveling south near the 1100 block of VFW Road, just south of Meridian Road, his car ran off the west side of the road, the report stated. His car re-entered the roadway, then traveled off the east side of the road. The car eventually struck a tree on the driver's side.

The car rolled twice and eventually came back on the road, where it skidded until it again traveled off the west side of the road, the report stated. That's when Sneed was ejected from the car.

Sneed was pronounced dead upon the arrival of police and first responders, according to the report.

Lawrence County police, Mitchell Police Department, Marion Township Rural Fire Department and AMR/St. Vincent Dunn Hospital ambulance responded to the scene.

The report does not describe what caused the accident.
