Three-year-old girl third victim of deadly North Dakota crash
Three-year-old Sophie Conner is the third fatality after a car crash on a North Dakota highway late last year.
The little girl died Tuesday.
The accident happened on U.S. Interstate 29 near Drayton, N.D., on Dec. 28, while two Winnipeg families were heading to Minneapolis for a winter break. A semi-trailer truck rear-ended an SUV carrying five people, police said.
The crash was blamed on poor visibility. There was a no-travel advisory in place at the time.
Conner’s mother, 33-year-old Karla Mackenzie, was killed in the crash.
Sophie and three-year-old Evelyn Lau were rushed to a Minneapolis hospital.
Lau was placed on life support so her organs could be donated. She died on New Year’s Day.
A memorial service will be held Jan. 21 at the Victoria Inn in Winnipeg.
