Eustis, FL : Eustis man, 76, dies in crash while passing in Corvette in no-passing zone on Monday, 9th September 2019

The driver of a Chevrolet Corvette who was killed in a head-on crash Friday night while passing in a no-passing zone on State Road 44 has been identified as Larry Vandergrift, 76, of Eustis, the Florida Highway Patrol said Monday.
Vandergrift was southbound on S.R. 44 at Forest Ridge Road in the 1985 Corvette when he passed other vehicles and struck a 2016 Nissan pickup truck heading north driven by John Collins, 28, of DeLand, the FHP said.
Collins was transported to AdventHealth DeLand hospital with minor injuries.
The accident, which occurred at 6:40 p.m. in the Pine Lakes area of Lake County, remains under investigation.
