Students at a western New York high school are mourning the death of a classmate who was killed in a car crash while returning home from a college visit.

State police say 18-year-old Michael Dmochowski was driving on Route 96 in the rural Tioga County town of Spencer late Friday night when he crossed the center line and hit an oncoming car. The teen was killed in the crash and a person in the other vehicle suffered a leg injury.

Dmochowski was a senior at Lockport High School in Niagara County. At the time of the crash, he was heading home after visiting Ithaca College.

His funeral is being held Thursday at a church in Lockport.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
