Guadalupe County, TX : Woman killed in a three vehicle wreck in New Braunfels on Saturday, May 21, 2016
A New Braunfels woman was killed in a three vehicle wreck around 10 a.m. on Saturday at the intersection of Farm-to-Market Road 725 and East Klein Road in New Braunfels.
David Ferguson, NBPD communications coordinator, said initially a gray Dodge Durango had been involved in a minor rear-end collision with a black Ford F-150 pickup truck.
The 61-year-old driver of the Durango allegedly attempted to flee the scene by driving around the accident and crossing the center dividing line into oncoming traffic. He then struck the driver’s side of a blue Chevy Sonic driven by 41-year-old Jennifer Cicha.
“The original minor accident resulted in no injuries, however, the near head-on collision resulted in the death of the female driver of the Sonic,” Ferguson said.
The driver of the Durango was critically injured and was transported by ambulance to Resolute Health Hospital in New Braunfels, and then transferred to San Antonio Military Medical Center for treatment.
“The circumstances surrounding the cause of these accidents remains under investigation to include possible criminal charges,” Ferguson said.
