Las Vegas, NV : 87-year-old man pronounced dead after being dragged by minivan on Monday morning, June 27, 2016

An 87-year-old man was pronounced dead today after he got out of a minivan while backing out of a garage and was dragged some 25 feet, according to Metro Police.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, but the death may have been the result of a medical episode, police said. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will determine the cause and manner of death. The man’s name has not been released pending notification of his family.

The incident happened about 8:20 a.m. in the 9900 block of West Katie Avenue. The man was attempting to reverse out of the garage and got out while the minivan was moving, police said.

His clothes became attached to the underside of the vehicle, which dragged the man about 25 feet until it stopped against a raised median, police said. The driver was pinned on the left side of the vehicle, police said.

Nobody else was in the minivan, police said.
