ETHAN, SD : One injured in two-vehicle crash near Ethan on Wednesday, October, 25th 2017
Charges are pending against a Mitchell man after a two-vehicle crash injured one Wednesday morning near Ethan.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., a 36-year-old male driving a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix was traveling southbound on Highway 37 south of Ethan near mile marker 61. The male was stopped in the southbound lane waiting for traffic to pass before making a left turn. The vehicle was then struck from behind by 47-year-old Timothy Loes, of Mitchell, according to the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
Loes, who was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado, was driving southbound on the highway when he looked down. After looking back up his vehicle rear-ended the Pontiac.
The 36-year-old male, whose name is not being released, was transported with minor injuries to Avera Queen of Peace hospital in Mitchell.
Loes did not have any injuries and charges are pending. All drivers were wearing seat belts.
The South Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating. Other responding agencies included the Davison County Sheriff's Office, Ethan Fire Department and Mitchell Emergency Medical Services.
