Rock County , WI : Illinois man Killed and passenger Critically injured in Crash after he lost control of his vehicle then rolled into the right ditch and struck two trees on Tuesday , March 10th 2015

An Illinois man was killed and another critically injured Tuesday when the vehicle they were in went off a highway in Rock County, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

The crash was reported shortly after 7 p.m. in the southbound lanes of I-39 near Janesville, according to a news release from the State Patrol.

According to the release, a 25-year-old Illinois man was driving southbound when the driver of the vehicle in front of him braked.

The Illinois man then lost control of his vehicle, which rolled into the right ditch and struck two trees.

The man and his passenger, a 27-year-old Illinois man, were extricated from the vehicle and taken to a hospital, where the 25-year-old man died and his passenger was being treated for life-threatening injuries, according to the release.

Both men were wearing seat belts, according to the release.
