Saint Augustine, FL : 3 pedestrians killed in 2 separate crashes on Wednesday, September 20th 2017

Tuesday night proved deadly on St. Johns County highways after three pedestrians were killed in two separate crashes just hours apart.


The first crash happened at 8:10 p.m. when two people were struck and killed as they tried to cross State Road 16 just east of the Interstate 95 interchange.

Eric Blanton, 36, of Hastings, and a 35-year-old Georgia woman, whose name has not yet been released pending family notification, were both pronounced dead at the scene, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

The release said the two were attempting to cross the highway from north to south when they were struck by a westbound Pontiac Grand Prix driven by 45-year-old Dannyn J. Leyendecker of Gainesville.
