Daytona Beach, FL : Pedestrian died after being struck by a car in north Daytona Beach on Sunday night, March 6, 2016

A pedestrian has died after being struck by a car in Daytona Beach Sunday night, authorities said.

According to the Daytona Beach Fire Department, the crash happened around 7:15 p.m. at Nova Road and Brentwood Drive in north Daytona Beach.

Police said the man who was struck was pronounced dead at the scene. He has not yet been identified.

The driver involved remained at scene and cooperated with investigators, police said. It is unknown if the driver will face charges.

People living in the area told WESH 2 News pedestrians often cross Nova Road near Brentwood Drive, despite the lack of a crosswalk.
