Lynchburg, VA : Six people injured after wreck on U.S. 460 near Pleasant Valley Road Monday afternoon, July 11, 2016
Six people, including five children, were transported to the hospital after a wreck on U.S. 460 near Pleasant Valley Road Monday afternoon involving a church van.
According to Virginia State Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller, a 15-passenger church van was rear-ended by a tractor trailer in the westbound lane near 2:06 p.m.
Geller said Monday night the driver of the van and five juveniles were transported to Lynchburg General Hospital.
She said she was unsure how many people were in the van when it was hit.
The Campbell County Public Safety Department, Lynchburg Fire Department, Concord Volunteer Fire Department, Lynchburg Police Department, Campbell County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police all responded to the scene.
Westbound traffic was backed up for over a mile as crews worked to clear the scene.
Geller said part of the westbound lane was reopened at 3:12 p.m. the wreck was cleared at 4:56 p.m.
