Durham, N.C : 2 dead, 2 more injured in crash on Durham Freeway on Wednesday evening, January 4, 2017

Two people died when two vehicles crashed in Durham County on Wednesday evening, officials say.

The wreck happened around 6:50 p.m. in the northbound lanes of N.C. Highway 147 near exit 7, which is T.W. Alexander Drive, according to the North Carolina DOT.

Two men died in the crash and two other people were injured, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

The two men who died were in the same vehicle and the pair who were injured were in the other car, according to troopers, who are trying to determine how the crash happened.

N.C. Highway 147 is blocked heading north and the left lane is closed heading south, the N.C. DOT reported.

As of 11 p.m., the road was still closed.
