BARRY, IL : Pittsfield woman injured in one-car crash in Pike County on July, Friday 21th 2017
A Pittsfield woman was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 12:08 p.m. Friday southeast of Barry in Pike County.
The Illinois State Police said Sharon K. Welch, 60, was driving a 2003 Ford Taurus east on Ill. 106 when the car ran off the right side of the road approximately three-tenths of a mile east of 300th Street. The vehicle struck a concrete box culvert leading to a field entrance.
Police say the vehicle sustained major damage, and Welch had to be extricated from the wreckage by the Barry Fire Department.
Welch was initially taken from the scene by the Pike County Ambulance Service but was then transferred to an Air Evac helicopter to Blessing Hospital in Quincy for treatment.
Police said Welch was issued citations for driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to wear a seat belt and improper lane usage.
