Wellfleet, MA : R.I. woman killed in fatal Cape Cod crash on Route 6 in Wellfleet on Saturday afternoon, November 15, 2014
A Warwick, R.I. woman has been identified as the victim of a head-on crash on Route 6 in Wellfleet on Saturday afternoon.
Police received multiple calls reporting a head-on crash at 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
Upon arrival, emergency officials found Lucille Francoeur, 76, of Warwick, with life-threatening injuries. Rescuers performed CPR on Francoeur at the scene.
Francoeur was transported to Cape Cod hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The crash happened when a 2007 Subaru traveling northbound on Route 6 was hit head-on by a 2014 Audi traveling southbound. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
The driver of the Subaru, Denise A. Wilkie, 55, of Little Compton, Rhode Island, was taken to Cape Cod Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Francoeur was a passenger in this car.
The driver of the Audi, James Martin, 46, of Provincetown, was transported to Cape Cod Hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
Route 6 was shut down to one lane for two hours following the crash.
