Putnam County, IN :Blown tire caused dump truck to roll, block traffic in Putnam County on Wednesday, July 1st 2015
An overturned dump truck in Putnam County caused traffic issues Wednesday just after 10:30 a.m.Indiana State Police and Putnam County officials responded to the west bound lanes of U.S. 40 near County Road 850 East for a single vehicle accident.Officials report a 2006 Mack dump truck was traveling east on U.S. 40 when a tire on the left front side blew out. This caused the truck to veer into the median and then roll over into the westbound lanes.The truck was carrying about 20,000 pounds of gravel at the time of the accident.The driver had minor injuries from the crash but refused treatment. The ISP Sergeant investigating the accident reported the driver of the truck would have likely sustained serious injuries if he would not have been wearing his seatbelt.The Indiana Department of Transportation re-routed all traffic into the eastbound lanes during the crash investigation and clean-up. All lanes were open and clear at approximately 12:45p.m.
