Davis, CA : A 3-year-old Winters boy died in a solo vehicle collision on May, Friday, 19th 2017

A 3-year-old Winters boy died in a solo vehicle collision Friday morning just west of Winters.

Misael Amador Reyes was a passenger in a Honda Accord whose driver was traveling eastbound from Winters on Russell Boulevard and failed to negotiate a curve in the road at County Road 93A, California Highway Patrol Officer Rodney Fitzhugh said.

The crash occurred at about 8:30 a.m.

“For unknown reasons the driver lost control and the vehicle rolled over,” ejecting the toddler from the car, Fitzhugh said. The boy was transported to the UC Davis Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Fitzhugh said an 83-year-old man and a woman, believed to be in her 80s as well, also were in the vehicle, although it was not immediately clear who was driving the car. The CHP could not confirm the relationship of the child to the couple.

Both adults, also Winters residents, were taken to Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville. The man was reported to have major injuries, while the woman had moderate wounds.

The circumstances surrounding the crash, including whether the boy was restrained in a child safety seat, remain under investigation, Fitzhugh said.
