New London, MN : Two people injured in a head-on motor vehicle crash in New London on Wednesday, April 27, 2016

Two people were injured in a head-on motor vehicle crash around 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The Minnesota State Patrol says Ashley A. McCleary, 23, of Belgrade, and Chad E. Scheltens, 43, of Spicer, were injured in the crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 71 and Kandiyohi County Road 40.

Both were transported to Rice Hospital in Willmar with injuries deemed non life-threatening.

Scheltens was driving a 2009 Nissan Cube west on County Road 40 when he attempted to turn left at the intersection and head south on Highway 71.

The Nissan struck McCleary’s Chevy Malibu in the intersection, which was heading north on Highway 71.

Both vehicles were totaled in the crash. Road conditions were wet at the time. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the collision.
