CONTINENTAL, OH : Putnam County accident kills Ottawa motorcyclist on Friday, 26th August, 2016
An Ottawa motorcyclist was killed and two other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Ohio 15 near Continental this morning, according to the Lima post of the State Highway Patrol.
Jeremy Larson, 42, the motorcyclist, died at the scene, according to the patrol. He was not wearing an approved helmet, the patrol said.
The driver of a sport-utility vehicle, Teddy McCoy, 43, and his passenger, Karen McCoy, 45, both of Kalida, were taken to St. Rita’s Ambulatory Care Center, Ottawa, according to the patrol. They were both treated for minor injuries and released.
Larson was driving a 2013 Harley-Davidson south on Ohio 15 around 11:45 a.m., according to the patrol. Teddy McCoy’s 2012 Cadillac SUV turned into the path of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle struck the passenger side of the SUV, the patrol said.
Ohio 15 was closed for about two hours after the crash, which remains under investigation.
The crash will be reviewed by the Putnam County Prosecutor’s Office to determine if any charges will be filed, the patrol said.
Assisting at the crash scene were the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, the Putnam County Coroner’s Office, Putnam County Emergency Medical Services, Continental Fire and Emergency Medical Service, Meyer’s Towing and R&O Towing.
