Columbia, SC : Man arrested for single-vehicle crash at Addison's on Saturday October 25th 2014.

A pickup truck crashed into Addison's Grill around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, hospitalizing four people, then drove away. The driver of the vehicle has since been arrested. The driver, 36-year-old Shayne Healea of California, Missouri, reversed his 2013 Ford F-150 with the tailgate down in the rear parking lot of the restaurant, according to a news release from the Columbia Police Department. His vehicle then hit a portion of the building constructed of glass blocks. The truck drove through a nine-by-four-foot window positioned above about a half-dozen diners, sending glass and debris "flying" 20 feet into the building, according to a Columbia Fire Department news release. "We were seated at the bar, and we heard an explosion," Rusty Thielmann said. "We looked to our right, and blocks of glass were collapsing into the restaurant." The driver left the scene after the striking the building and parked his vehicle in front of the Tiger HOTEL. Columbia police officers located Healea in the alley near the crash, according to the release. Healea was arrested on suspicion of four counts of assault in the second degree with a total bond of $18,000, and arrested on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident with a bond of $4,500, according to the news release. Healea, who is the Moniteau County prosecuting attorney, released a statement regarding the incident Sunday evening. In the statement, he said he was picking up friends downtown. "Apparently, while turning around in a small parking lot, my lowered tailgate contacted a glass block window without my knowledge," he wrote in the statement. He said once he was alerted to the accident, he returned and identified himself to police at the scene. Two men and two women were taken to University Hospital on Saturday night for their injuries. Marie Heckemeyer and Derek Heckemeyer of Wildwood, Missouri, and Aaron Grandestaff and Stephanie Grandestaff of Ozark, Missouri, were all treated for non-life threatening injuries.
