THOMASVILLE, GA : Local man dies in Dillon Road crash on Thursday, August 10, 2017
Speed is a contributing factor in a Thursday afternoon traffic trash in which a 23-year-old Thomasville man died, according to authorities.
Spencer Depaola, 215 Brookwood Chase, was driving a 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck on Dillon Road about 2:30 p.m. Thursday when the crash occurred.
"He was negotiating a left-hand curve and crossed the center line," said Sgt. 1st Class Tommy Peeples, Thomasville Post 12 Georgia State Patrol commander.
While steering back into his lane, Depaola overcorrected, causing the vehicle to travel off the right shoulder.
The pickup overturned three times and came to rest in a yard after striking a tree, Peeples said.
"Speed definitely is a factor," the post commander said.
Depaola was wearing a seatbelt.
The crash was near Dillon's intersection with Brinson Drive, about one and a half miles south of U.S. 319 North.
