GREEN, OH : 87-year-old man driving wrong way killed in head-on crash on Ohio interstate on Wednesday, 27th February 2019
An 87-year-old man was killed in a wrong-way crash early Wednesday that closed a northeast Ohio highway for several hours during the morning commute.
James Langford, 87, of New Franklin, was driving northbound in a 2005 Buick LeSabre in the southbound lanes of Interstate 77 at 3 a.m. and struck a 2019 semi-truck head-on between the Massillon Road and Arlington Road exits in the city of Green, between Akron and Canton, the Summit County Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities said Langford, who was pronounced dead at the scene, turned onto the exit ramp at Massillon Road and began driving the wrong way on the highway. The LeSabre “was immediately” involved in the head-on crash, authorities said.
The truck driver was not injured.
