Onamia,MN : Mille Lacs County rear-end crash injures 2 on October, Monday 23th 2017

Two people were injured in a three-vehicle, rear-end crash at 3:42 p.m. Monday on Highway 169 and 330th Street in Onamia Township in Mille Lacs County.

The Minnesota State Patrol reported a Chevy Traverse was traveling south in the left lane of Highway 169 and slowed for a school bus displaying its red lights near 330th Street. The Traverse was rear-ended by the Volkswagen Jetta. The Jetta went into the right lane and struck a utility trailer that a third vehicle, a Ford truck, was hauling, the state patrol reported.


The driver of the Jetta, Jonathan A. Kangas, 22, Mora, and his passenger, Josiah J. Hagen, 9, Mora, had non-life-threatening injuries. Josiah was transported to Mille Lacs Health System in Onamia for his injuries. A hospital was not listed for Kangas.

The drivers of the Traverse, Judith C. Fischer, 77, Andover, and the Ford, Nicholas R. Robinson, 38, Coon Rapids, were not injured. Robinson's passenger Clyde L. Morris, 48, Minneapolis, also was not injured.

The Mille Lacs County Sheriff's Office assisted the state patrol at the scene.
