FAIRMONT, WV : Fatal car accident on I-79 on Tuesday, December, 12th 2017

A car crossed from Interstate 79 southbound over the median to the northbound side, hitting another car at approximately 8:25 p.m.

Tuesday. The accident resulted in one fatality, with the other victim transported to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown by ground, according to an official on scene.

“From what we can tell, a car crossed the median and hit another car,”?an official from the Winfield District Volunteer Fire Department said at the scene. “We had one transported by ground to the Ruby.”

The driver of the vehicle which was traveling south was killed.

The driver of the other car was transported. The accident took place near mile marker 138, where Valley Volunteer Fire Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Department, White Hall Police Department and the Marion County Rescue Squad responded.

Both lanes on the north route were shut down for about two hours while officials examined the scene.
