SCOTT COUNTY, MS : One dead following 18-wheeler crash in Scott County on Wednesday, 15th August 2018

One person is dead following a crash involving two 18-wheelers and several cars on I-20 in Scott County.

Tuesday afternoon an 18-wheeler overturned and spilled the material it was carrying all over the roadway causing a significant traffic jam.

The driver was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Because of the traffic from this wreck, a car slowed down when they saw the back up with one 18-wheeler behind it and one in front of it.

The 18-wheeler following this car wasn't able to slow down fast enough and ended up hitting the car and pushing it up under the 18-wheeler in front of it.

The car was smashed in between the two 18-wheelers and caught on fire. The driver died on scene.

The two 18-wheelers also caught fire.

Because of the severity of the burns, the body was taken to the medical examiner's lab for DNA testing.

The two 18-wheeler drivers were taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
