Driver fleeing traffic stop killed in crash
Maryland State Police say a Delaware man was killed after he fled during a traffic stop and crashed in a field in Caroline County.
It happened about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday on Oakland Road in Ridgely. Police say a trooper saw a car driven by 30-year-old Cecil A. Barrett of Dover speeding and stopped the vehicle.Authorities say as the trooper was at the car talking with the driver, Barrett suddenly sped off.Troopers say less than a mile away, Barrett's car failed to negotiate a curve, left the road, became airborne and rolled over at least four times in a field.Barrett was pronounced dead at the scene.
