Ferguson, MO : St. Louis driver dies of injuries after crashing into Metro bus in Ferguson early Friday, April 7, 2017
A driver died of his injuries Friday shortly after he crashed into a Metro transit bus that was stopped at a red light, police say.
Benjamin J. Hancock, 27, of St. Louis died at a hospital early Friday just after the crash at West Florissant Avenue and Interstate 270, according to a Missouri Highway Patrol crash report.
Hancock was southbound on West Florissant shortly after midnight when he failed to notice traffic stopped at a red light in front of him, police said. His Chevrolet pickup crashed into the back of a Metro bus stopped at the light. Hancock wasn't wearing a seat belt, police said.
He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
No one on the bus was injured.
Both vehicles were seriously damaged in the crash. Ferguson police assisted troopers at the scene.
