Manatee County, FL : Woman killed, another woman injured in 3-vehicle crash New Year's Eve on Wednesday night, December 31, 2014

A 61-year-old Bradenton woman died and another woman was seriously injured in a four-car accident Wednesday night.

According to a news release from the Florida Highway Patrol:

Candice Chritel Preston was driving east at about 7:30 in the left lane of 53rd Avenue West near the intersection with 9th Street East.

Two other vehicles were stopped for traffic in the left eastbound lane of 53rd Avenue West. Preston's car failed to stop and collided with the rear of a 2014 Nissan driven by Jessica Dethmer, 28, of Bradenton.

Preston was taken to Blake Medical Center, where she later died. Dethmer was seriously injured and was taken to Manatee Memorial Hospital.

The impact pushed Dethmer's car into a 2014 Ford Mustang driven by of David Michael Luedeka, 47, of Cruzet, Virginia. Debris from the crash also struck a fourth car, driven by Brandon Rossler, 19, of Sarasota

was struck by flying debris from the traffic crash. Neither driver was injured.
