GASTONIA, NC : Gastonia crash leaves 1 dead, police officer hospitalized on Saturday, 24th February 2024

One person is dead and a Gaston County Police officer is in the hospital after a crash Saturday night in Gastonia.

According to the Gaston County Police Department, the crash happened while the officer was responding to a shooting call outside of Bessemer City.

The crash, which happened near the intersection of West Franklin Boulevard and South Webb Street, resulted in one person being killed and the hospitalization of the officer.

Shortly after 10 p.m., Gaston County Police Communications received a 911 call about a shooting that happened on Davis Road, outside of Bessemer City. Officers received information that a person had been shot, and both the victim and suspect were still on scene at the home. A Gaston County Police officer was responding to the shooting, with their blue lights and siren activated, when the crash happened.
