Mishawaka, IN : Several injured in accident on Indiana 23 near Hickory Road on Monday, July 25, 2016

Several people were injured in a head-on accident about 10 p.m. Monday on Indiana 23 near Hickory Road.

Initial reports were that people were trapped inside a vehicle after the accident. County police and Clay Fire Territory rescue personnel were called to the scene.

Rescue personnel worked to free some of the people riding in one of the vehicles. One person was seen taken from one of the cars on a stretcher.

Traffic was diverted from Indiana 23 at Douglas Road and Cleveland Road because of the accident.
