DARIEN, CT : A Janesville man died on Saturday, July 29, 2017

A Janesville man died Saturday after his vehicle crossed the center line and collided with an oncoming semitrailer truck in the town of Darien, according to a Walworth County Sheriff's Office news release.

Ryan A. Phetteplace, 46, was pronounced dead about 40 minutes after the Walworth County sheriff's office was alerted to the accident, according to the release.

Phetteplace was not wearing a seat belt and was alone in the car, according to the release.

At about 3:56 p.m. Saturday, sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a head-on crash on Highway 11/14 just west of Highway 89 in the town of Darien, according to the release.

An initial investigation shows Phetteplace's 2008 Subaru Impreza was eastbound when it crossed into the westbound lane and collided with a semi driven by Dennis Bennington, 55, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, according to the release. Bennington was not injured.

The crash is still under investigation by the sheriff's crash investigation unit and Walworth County Medical Examiner's Office.
