Grand Island, NE : Snow and icy conditions caused 20 accidents in Grand Island on February, Tuesday 6th 2018

Snow and icy conditions caused 20 accidents in Grand Island Tuesday and early Wednesday.

Most of those occurred in the afternoon, says Grand Island Police Capt. Jim Duering.

Duering said visibility was poor during the afternoon. The light snow “was blowing everywhere,” and streets “got slick fast,” he said.

Many drivers, unfortunately, did not adjust. “They just did not slow down,” Duering said. People were “just driving to work like they normally would at 3 o’clock and running into each other everywhere,” Duering said.

Hall County deputies responded to 11 weather-related calls, said Sgt. T.J. Arends of the sheriff’s office, who said roads were slick with low visibility. There were no injury-accidents.
