OMEGA, GA : Omega woman was killed in a single-car accident on Sunday, November, 19th 2017
An Omega woman was killed in a single-car accident on Sunday afternoon when she was thrown from the overturning vehicle. Phyllis Pritchett, 54, was driving east on Moultrie-Lenox Road at about 3:54 p.m. when the accident occurred, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Pritchett’s 2005 Chevrolet TrailBlazer left the roadway when she failed to maintain lane, the GSP said, went off the right shoulder and into a ditch. The driver overcorrected and the TrailBlazer flipped multiple times. Pritchett was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car.
Pritchett was transported to Tift Regional Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
In a separate accident, a 9-year-old Norman Park who was in a golf cart that overturned and landed on top of him remained hospitalized Monday. The accident occurred at about 5:18 p.m. on South Railroad Street.
Brito Rigoberto was in stable condition at Colquitt Regional Medical Center, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The GSP said that Luke Scarberry, 12, was driving a 2017 Club Cart south when he lost control and went off the right side of the roadway. After leaving the street the cart overturned on its left side.
Scarberry was treated and released, the hospital spokeswoman said. A second passenger, 9-year-old Christopher Evans, was unhurt.
