LOOKINGGLASS, OR : Victim of fiery Lookingglass crash identified on Wednesday, August 30, 2017
The driver who died in a fiery crash Wednesday morning on Lookingglass Road has been identified, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Police say 28-year-old Jeffery Alan Douglas, of Tempe, Arizona, died in the crash after his 1994 Chevy S10 pickup left the road and crashed into a dry creek bed.At approximately 9:39 a.m.Wednesday, witnesses reported that a single vehicle had crashed near the intersection of Lookingglass Road and Nandy Drive. Crews from the Lookingglass Fire Department arrived first to the scene and discovered the vehicle off the roadway and in a dry creek bed, according to police.
The vehicle was engulfed in flames when the firefighters arrived.
After the vehicle was extinguished, crews located the body of the deceased driver inside, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
The Douglas County Medical Examiner’s Office conducted an investigation into the identity of the victim and later notified next of kin.
Personnel from Bay Cities Ambulance, Oregon State Police, Douglas Forest Protective Association and Douglas Electric assisted.
