MCMINNVILLE, OR : 1 person dead, several others transported to hospitals after Hwy 99W crash on July, Monday 3rd 2017
One person died and seven others were transported to nearby hospitals after a three-vehicle crash on Highway 99W south of McMinnville Monday.
Oregon State Police responded to the crash at about 2:15 p.m. The fatal crash near milepost 40 closed the highway for about six hours.
Investigators say Billie J. King, 24, of Falls City, was driving a 2003 Pontiac Sunfire northbound on Highway 99W. She was slowing or stopped to make a left turn onto SW Durham Lane.
Behind the Pontiac was a 1993 Ford F250 towing a small utility trailer, police said.
They said the Ford was unable to stop and rear-ended the Pontiac. The Pontiac spun into the southbound lane where it was struck broadside by a southbound 2007 Toyota Sequoia.
After the Ford collided with the Pontiac, police said it left the highway, struck a parked car in a driveway and then a house.
King was transported by ground ambulance to Salem Hospital. Her passenger in the Pontiac, Jeremy M. King, 29, also of Falls City, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Two children in the Pontiac, a 7-year-old girl and a 3-year-old boy were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
Police said Kris F. Painter, 62, of Amity, was driving the Toyota. The driver was checked by medical personnel at the scene, but did not go to the hospital.
According to police, Shirley Robins, 82, of Portland, was taken by ground ambulance to Salem hospital. Laurie Painter, 59, of Amity, was taken by air ambulance to Salem hospital. Brittany Painter, 27, of Amity was taken by ground ambulance to Salem hospital.
The driver of the Ford, Justin M Sauers, 24, of Amity, was taken to McMinnville hospital by ground ambulance.
The Oregon Department of Transportation, Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office, McMinnville Police, McMinnville Fire, and Sheridan fire assisted Oregon State Police.
