Windsor, NH : Woman killed in single-car crash on Interstate 91 on Friday morning October 24th 2014
Despite efforts to perform CPR at the scene, a Keene, N.H., woman whose car crashed into the ledges just above the bridge construction area on Interstate 91 in Windsor on Friday morning was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
Nancy Southwell, 59, was identified by Vermont State Police as the deceased driver of the black 2012 Ford Focus that was involved in the crash just before 10 a.m. on what was described as wet pavement in overcast conditions.
Vermont State Police Trooper Bryson Lunderville said Southwell’s car sustained damage to the front of the passenger side of the vehicle, including a broken tire rod, but he said the cause of the crash still remains under investigation.
An ambulance crew took Southwell to nearby Mount Ascutney Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Lunderville reported that Southwell was wearing her seat belt when the accident occurred.
The section of Interstate 91 at mile marker 55 northbound where the crash occurred is just above where the long bridges over Route 44 have been undergoing extensive reconstruction and the temporary detours to accommodate that construction merge back into two normal lanes.
