Marengo,IL : Marengo crash involving drunken driver kills Rockford woman, police say on February, Saturday 24th 2018

A 29-year-old Rockford woman died Saturday night in a crash involving a drunken driver, authorities said.

The crash happened at 7:25 p.m. at Kishwaukee Valley and Vermont roads, McHenry County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Sandra Rogers said. A Hyundai Velostar was traveling west on Kishwaukee Valley Road, ran off the road at South McKinstry Road and crashed into a tree, Rogers said.


Two people were in the vehicle. The passenger, a 29-year-old Rockford woman, was pronounced dead at the scene, Rogers said.

The driver, Jose Loredo, 30, of Rockford, was arrested and charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, driving under the influence and aggravated DUI.

Loredo was taken to Centegra Hospital – Huntley with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Rogers said.

Authorities have not released the Rockford woman’s name.
