Odessa, TX : Odessa man died of his injuries on Wednesday, June 7, 2017
An Odessa man who traveled in a full-size truck that rolled over following a suspected tire blowout on Highway 385 Wednesday night died of his injuries, the Texas Department of Public Safety reported Thursday.
Manual Ochoa Rivas, 55, was pronounced dead at Medical Center Hospital following the collision that was reported at 9:04 p.m. and occurred about six miles north of Odessa, DPS authorities said.
Rivas was a passenger in a 1999 Ford F-150 pickup that was steered by 43-year-old Rigoberto Mendoza, who was heading south on Highway 385. Authorities believe that one of the tires in Mendoza’s truck blew, causing the pickup truck to veer off the roadway and “begin rolling,” the DPS reported.
Both Rivas and Mendoza wore seatbelts during the collision. Mendoza suffered unspecified injuries, the DPS said.
