Greenville, TN : Three people died after the vehicle they were riding in crashed into a tree on Sunday night, January 31, 2016

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says three people have died after the vehicle they were riding in crashed into a tree while officers were pursuing them.

According to a highway patrol report, Jerrod Wardrip, Aaron J. Overbay, and Crystal N. Manis died Sunday night in the crash. The driver of the vehicle, 18-year-old Lucas B. Riddle, has been charged with criminally negligent homicide.

The police report says Greeneville officers clocked Riddle speeding and when they pursued, attempting to stop him, the vehicle lost control on a curve and hit the tree.

It wasn't immediately clear whether Riddle has an attorney.

The THP said no one was wearing a seat belt.
