Stuart, FL : 74-year-old man dies after crash near Stuart on Wednesday afternoon, February 1, 2017
A 74-year-old man is dead after his car crashed into a palm tree and rolled over near Stuart Wednesday afternoon, according to Florida Highway Patrol.
Gordon Henry Bahl Jr. was headed westbound on southeast St. Lucie Boulevard near Glasgow Court, just south of the Witham Field Airport when he lost control of his vehicle just after 1:30 p.m. Officials note he suffered an unknown medical condition, but they did not say if that caused the Stuart resident to lose control of the vehicle.
His car, a 2002 Ford Thunderbird, veered off the road and hit a palm tree. Then, the Thunderbird overturned, according to the report. Bahl was wearing a seat belt, investigators said.
No one else was injured in the crash.
It’s unclear if Bahl died at the scene or later at the hospital.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
