CURRYVILLE, MO : Shelbina man hurt in Ralls County crash on Friday, 14th September 2018

A Shelby County man suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle crash Friday near the Ralls County line.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said that George C. Carpenter, 85, of Shelbina, was driving south at 5:25 p.m. Friday on Route F about 2 miles north of Vandalia. Investigators said Carpenter's 2002 Ford Taurus did not stop at an intersection with U.S. 54, where Jay E. Garrett, 44, of Wentzville, was traveling west in a 2003 Hummer H2. The vehicles collided, with the Taurus coming to rest on its wheels and the Hummer resting on the passenger side. Both vehicles were total losses.

Carpenter was taken by Van-Far Ambulance to Hannibal Regional Hospital.

The Ralls County Sheriff's Department and the Vandalia Rural Fire Department assisted at the crash site.
