Around 8:20 p.m. officers arrived at the intersection of Belmont and Palm avenue and found the man lying in the road with severe head injuries, according to Lt. Steve Card.

Witnesses said the pedestrian was walking near the middle of intersection for around 10 minutes when a car, described as a two-door silver Sedan, was traveling east on Belmont Avenue. The car struck the victim and continued east on Belmont Avenue. The driver then turned around the block and came back to the scene to check on the victim. The driver then fled south on Palm Avenue.
