Man dies in motorcycle crash in Cumberland Furnace Tennessee

A 24-year-old Creek Wood alumnus died Saturday evening in a motorcycle wreck after participating in a school fundraiser earlier that day.Buck Allen Dawson, of Cumberland Furnace, passed away late Saturday at Horizon Medical Center after a motorcycle wreck earlier that evening.Dawson graduated from Creek Wood High School in 2007, and played third base for the Red Hawks. He participated in an alumni baseball game at the Creek Wood Palooza fundraiser event earlier Saturday.Dawson drove a 2012 Suzuki motorcycle west on Rock Springs Road when the crash occurred around 7 p.m., at the intersection with Maple Valley Road in Cumberland Furnace. He crossed into the eastbound lane and lost control of the motorcycle, which slid onto its side.No other vehicles were involved in the wreck. The posted speed limit is 45 mph.Tennessee Highway Patrol investigated the accident, and reported no signs of alcohol or drugs at the scene. Dawson wore a helmet.Funeral services are scheduled Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Crossroads Church of God of Prophecy in White Bluff. CWHS assistant principal and assistant baseball coach, Rodney Parker will officiate the service.Dawson is survived by his wife, Shelby Dawson; father and stepmother, Todd and Hallie Dawson, of Cumberland Furnace; mother and stepfather, Genevia and Bob Graham, of Dickson; and two brothers, two stepbrothers and four stepsisters, among several relatives.
