Eau Claire,WI : Pedestrian killed in Highway 12 crash in Altoona on December, Monday 18th 2017

A portion of Highway 12 in Altoona closed for several hours for an investigation following the death of a pedestrian.

Altoona police Chief Jesse James said a female pedestrian was struck and killed at about 5 p.m. Monday while crossing Hillcrest Parkway, also known as Highway 12, at its intersection with Nottingham Way.

As of 8:45 p.m. Monday, James said the driver of the vehicle who struck the woman is cooperating with law enforcement, and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

Law enforcement is still onsite gathering information on how the incident occurred, including conducting a crash reconstruction onsite.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending family notification.

The Eau Claire sheriff’s office, Wisconsin State Patrol and Altoona Fire & Rescue are assisting with the investigation.
