Nashville, TN : Two-vehicle crash kills Bend man near Sunriver on Wednesday, December, 6th 2017
A 56-year-old Bend man died Wednesday morning after his pickup truck was hit from behind and slammed into a tree on U.S. Highway 97 near Sunriver, according to Oregon State Police.
Brian J. Harris was pronounced dead at the scene, Sgt. Kyle Hove, a state police spokesman, said in a press release.
The crash occurred about 10:15 a.m. Harris was at the wheel of his 1981 Toyota truck and headed north when, for unknown reasons, a 2006 Nissan Quest driven by Shannon R. Rogers, 55, of Goldendale, Wash., slammed into the back of the pickup, Hove said. The pickup then veered off the road and into a tree.
Rogers also veered off the road and into a tree and was hurt but her injuries were not life threatening.
U.S. Highway 97 was closed for 30 minutes until an alternating lane of traffic could be opened.
Investigators are checking to see if alcohol or speed contributed to the crash, Hove said.
