Spearfish, S.D : One injured in Belle Fourche car accident Tuesday, March 21, 2017

A Tuesday morning accident left one driver injured when the driver of a pickup truck traveling northbound allegedly failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of Highways 34 and 85 in Belle Fourche and collided into an SUV traveling east that was turning left onto Highway 85.
Belle Fourche Police Chief Marlyn Pomrenke said the driver of the red pickup truck ran the stop sign and struck the SUV, pushing it into the northbound turning lane in front of the Hardee’s restaurant and causing the truck to travel into the ditch in front of the Belle Inn restaurant.
The driver of the SUV was transported to Spearfish Regional Hospital via ambulance; the extent of injuries was not released. The driver of the truck was unharmed.
Pomrenke said the South Dakota Highway Patrol will continue an investigation into the accident. It was not clear at press time whether charges would be filed against the driver who ran the stop sign.
