Yorkville, IL : One injured in four-vehicle crash on Yorkville's south side on Tuesday, 26th November, 2019

One person was transported to an area hospital following a four-vehicle chain reaction crash Tuesday evening, Nov. 26, on Yorkville's south side.

Yorkville police issued citations to Joshua Holmgren, 28, of the 11000 block of Route 71, Yorkville, for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and for driving without insurance after responding to a traffic accident at 6:20 p.m. in the area of Route 47 and Route 71.

According to police, when officers arrived on scene they learned that all four vehicles were traveling south on Route 47. Three of the vehicles were stopped at the traffic light, when Holmgren did not slow his vehicle upon approach and struck the rear of the vehicle in front of him, causing the chain reaction.

Police said Holmgren was unconscious when first responders arrived on scene and was transported to an area hospital. All other drivers signed medical releases and were able to drive their vehicles away from the scene. Holmgren's vehicle was towed from the scene.
