Rutherford County, TN : Pedestrian struck, killed in crash near Highway 70 and Mt. Herman Road on Thursday night, December 22, 2016
A man was killed when he was hit by a car in Rutherford County Thursday night.
The wreck occurred near Highway 70 and Mt. Herman Road around 6:15 p.m.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol reported the victim, identified as 39-year-old James Pitts, Jr, of Bradyville, was hit by a Toyota Carolla traveling west on Highway 70.
Pitts reportedly walked out from the north side of Highway 70 and the Toyota was unable to avoid hitting him.
Two children, a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old, were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. They and the driver were uninjured.
The driver was cited for driving without a license and failure to provide proof of insurance.
No additional information was immediately released.
